Diamond District Profound By Oddisee

In The Ruff is the highly anticipated debut album from new DC hip hop
group “The Diamond District”, created by state veterans Oddisee, X.O.
& YU. In The Ruff is the answer for any lover of hip hop who asks the
question - “Where did that grimy East coast sound go?”

The group was founded by rapper/ producer Oddisee, who has a long list
of production & collaboration credits with the likes of Freeway, Talib
Kweli, Siagon, Little Brother, Trek Life, Charles Hamilton, Jazzy Jeff, Buck
Shot, Royce the 5′9”, Nikki jean, Muhsinah, J-live, Lil Fame of MOP,
Skyzoo and many more. Oddisee’s soulful, haunting samples over bass-
heavy beat breaks create the perfect instrumentals for him, XO & YU to
match with their street savvy, politically conscious lyrics.

“The ware wolves wear wool suits, be ware of them…”
-YU

In The Ruff is a raw mid-90’s Boom-Bap themed album for the DC state of
mind, destined to appeal to all lovers of hip hop’s golden era, managing to
travel back in time and push the boundaries of DC Hip-Hop
simultaneously.

(Personally this album is Dope. This is what the hip-hop community is missing now in dayz.) To download this album

Poem: My Desired Constellation (Warm-Up Poem)

Twinkle Twickle
Constellation
beam me home
seeing all the clusters in the galaxy
they're reflecting the space of you and me
requiring the love to be
hopefully the stars will lead me home
crying to the heavens above
i saw a dove
flourishing my wilderness flower
through the night
bleeding through the darkess hour
finding power
before daylight hit
i sit
i find my desired constellations
and they are here
within me
and thats where it will be
for eternity

Poem: Blues for Blue (Inspired By Brittany Bosco)

I know that this poem has no sense of direction
But i can't be the perfection for your view
Beacause this is my blues for blue
and if you feel bad
your negativity never had
cause my latest positivity is so large
but in your eyes...i go the wrong way
i didnt pay attention to your graditude or secluded break-neck points
because the spirits of life's beauty will bring reality phase
but my thoughts will stay in this blues for blue

the public eye is an example for indesentcy exposure
people minds become disclosure
and wont sit and think forward
because the nigga-izm is hungry
but i guess that it's their blues for blue

you see its funny how life takes you for a ride
striving to get by
before we hit the 6 feet under, corpes
i tried so hard to get keep up with the traditions
i tried to cope with my sanity
i tried to fight the time
but i end up with the blues for blue

i dreamed of being in the colored light
dispite on how i feel
this feeling is a peeling to a bliss
but i end up in black and white
and on the inside i have these blues for blue

Just like an amnesiac
Trying to get my senses back
trying to cope to the mist of the geography
is not my positivity and its not cycled
with my thoughts of being the star
and i dont want to be the star because i shine more brighter like the moon
but i still stay in my blues for blue

this is not a demise
but this is something that i had disgise
my everynight of popping pills
having chills
but on the inside i'm heating
with the dizziness
that has the eternal sickness
that makes me the person that i am today
but really i stay in my blues for blue

but as i stand here and tell my side of the story
i had to open up my bruses up
to let some of my blues blood out to show you
what i've been through
up to the age of catch 22
i stoop down to this blues for blue

I try to close my eyes
to black out the demons that has been brought to me
Astonishing.Apologies has been brought to me
for the ways that they have been acted out
but the way havent figured out...who i was?
but little do they know...i am all of the above
like the dove...that fades into black attack
and i go back to...blues for blue
and with that i'm cool sue
